Forums to be shut down March 13, returning March 18

What an exciting time! The new BirdersWorld.com is coming very soon!

The new site will launch at noon on March 18, 2009! That’s less than a week away!

Here's what you need to know...

The forums will shut down temporarily.

Although we hate to do it, we will have to shut down the forums on March 13, 2009, so we have time to make all the necessary updates and changes. The rest of BirdersWorld.com will remain functional until the morning of March 18, 2009. The forums will return, as good as new, on March 18, when the new BirdersWorld.com launches.

We know it will be tough to be deprived of the forums for those few days -- and we appreciate your understanding and patience. When you see the new Web site, we hope you agree that the inconvenience was worth it!

You will need to re-register.

To continue to participate in the forums and the site after the launch at noon on March 18, you will need to re-register. Re-registering is pretty simple, and we are conducting a re-registration sweepstakes! You could win a $200 shopping spree at www.BigPockets.com. There will be instructions on how to re-register on March 18.

You should check your browser.

To ensure that the new site works smoothly on your computer, make sure that you're running Firefox 3 and/or Internet Explorer 7.

Will the old discussions still be here? Will we start over in terms of membership level too?

The old discussions will all be carried over to the new forum. Some of the more ancient posts may take a few days before they come up in searches, but everything should be carried over.

Your post counts will remain the same and there will be bars listed to show your status level (reflecting how many posts you have made), rather than stars.
