This photo was taken during one of my many photo safaris to Africa. This was shot in Kenya in the Masai Mara in August 2011. I took the photo with a Nikon D300 in aperture priority, with center-weighted metering at ISO 1000, 1/2000 second at f/5.6, racked out at 400mm which is 600mm 35mm equivalent (Nikon 200-400 VR lens f/ 4). I loved the S curve of preening further enhancing the beauty of this bird.
