It was a very breezy morning just upstream from the Lachine Rapids on the Island of Montreal. This kestrel was giving me a coy look, probably because the branch it was sitting on was about 12 feet high, in a very deep cut into the bank of the river. Taken with a Canon 40D, 100 - 400mm lens.

American Kestrel at Sweetwater Wetlands, Tucson, Arizona. This is one of my favorite places to bird photograph, especially when the intense heat of the summer in the desert abates. I had seen this little kestrel before, but it finally perched for a while so I could get this shot. It was interested in...

This female American Kestrel was perched motionless for a while on a small, pointed snag, watching the activity at a local park in Tucson, Arizona, where I live. I watched her for a while and she began to move a bit, getting ready for a big stretch. I caught this shot, fanning her tail, just before she...

I went to the Aquarium of the Pacific, and one of the animals they have there, is basically a miniature falcon called an American Kestrel. I probably took pictures of it for about 10 minutes, and this was one of my two best shots of that bird.

American Kestrel a few hours out of the nest. I took a photo of this bird on Campobello Island, New Brunswick, during the Maritime Breeding Bird Survey. It was on a dirt road in the middle of the island, an adult bird was nearby. I did not stay long so I would not interfere in the bird being fed.
