I'm fortunate to live in a location where I can see Eared Grebes by the millions. For most of the year, Eared Grebes are found in highly saline environments like Mono Lake and the Great Salt Lake here in Utah to feed on brine shrimp and alkali flies. In fall and spring migration there are times that as far as my eyes can see there are thousands and thousands of Eared Grebes on the Great Salt Lake. I took this image today looking north from the Antelope Island State Park causeway. I used a Nikon D200, handheld, f9, 1/1000, ISO 400, Nikkor 18-200mm VR at 130mm.
