We (my wife and I) were just driving out of the Guajataca State Forest, on the central northwestern part of Puerto Rico, when suddenly we heard these two Loggerheads fighting. I grabbed my camera, stepped out of my station wagon, and had enough time to take a few shots of the action. This photo was taken with my Canon EOS 60D on January 10, 2012, at 12:49 p.m. at an aperture priority AE mode value of 8.0, shutter speed 1/400, ISO 200, +1/3 exposure compensation with a Sigma 150-500mm lens at its maximum focal length. The Loggerhead Kingbird, a local subspecies of Tyrannus caudifasciatus, is being considered to become a new endemic specie (Tyrannus taylori) of Puerto Rico after analyzing the notable physical and vocalization differences between the different populations of the Greater Antilles.
