This is the same owl from my earlier post... taken at UT Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas. This shot made the whole trip worth while. I waited on the ground in the rain with my rig covered in plastic. I was set up near a prairie dog town trying to notice the owl's pattern of movement and once I figured that out I just had to wait. I'd seen the little guy come back to this area consistently and was ready to fire off a few shots when it crouched down into the ground cover. I waited a bit longer and was rewarded with a few unexpected "peek-a-boo" shots. I was pretty well soaked... but really happy with the outcome. Shot with Nikon D200, Nikkor 200-400 f/4VR with Nikon 1.7X teleconverter, on my Induro A213 tripod... flat.
Low profile, no kidding. I love it, great image.
absolutely wonderful!
