If you've whiled a few minutes (or hours) enjoying the thousands of photos in our galleries, you've surely seen the work of MiaM, one of our most prolific and talented contributors. Since joining the website in November 2009, she has posted more than 680 photos! Today, I'm happy to introduce you to her and show off more of her exceptional photography.
Her name is Mia McPherson, and she is our "Featured Photographer" for May. (Previously we highlighted the photos of Marie Read and Brian E. Small.) In Mia's slideshow, we're showcasing 10 of her favorite images, including the gorgeous Marbled Godwit above. She describes in the captions where and when she took each photo.

"I prefer to photograph birds doing what they do and where they want to do it, which means long but enjoyable hours in the field," she says.
In addition to the godwit, the collection includes photos of Roseate Spoonbill, Prairie Falcon, a coyote, and a colorful monarch. Enjoy! —Matt Mendenhall, Associate Editor

I must say I can't think of a better photographer whose work exhibited on this site, I admire more than Mia's. She's shown versatility in not only delighting us with bird photos, but with beautiful landscape portraits as well. Very well deserving. Thank you Mia.
Thank you jburd, you are very kind!
Mia is easily one of the top bird photographers around. I'm honored to be a fellow Utah birder and even more privileged to have her as a monthly contributor to my website. She is one talented lady!
