Emperor Goose

Got the red alert at 4:30 pm and didn't have to think too long before setting off against all odds (or at least the traffic in hopes of getting a shot or two of the Emperor Goose, in amongst the Snow geese). First spotted by a photog earlier in the day. A small crowd of birders and an equal number of photogs were all enjoying close looks at the rare little juvenile goose as I trudged up with my gear and had brief minutes (it seemed) before the light started to fade too much and the goose moved further out from shore. D300 + 500mm f4 AFS.
