Dark-eyed Junco is one of our favorite birds. Small, sleek, handsome, and hardy, they can often be found filling up under backyard feeders all winter long. The images below are from our online galleries.

Ready to land: Paddler snapped this photo of a junco with wings up, tail spread, in northern Minnesota.

Taking a rest: A shovel in tigerpic’s backyard made an excellent perch for this junco. No doubt, it was tuckered out after helping clear the snow.

Pretty as a picture: This Oregon Dark-eyed Junco landed in lazymoose’s garden bed after a rare snowfall in the Seattle area.

Let it snow: There was plenty of snow in Princeton, Massachusetts, when this slate-colored junco posed in the decorations on Birdware’s deck.

Close-up: Alan Smith managed this close shot of a junco foraging in the snow.
